25 Sep How to Configure Network Proxy Settings in Windows 10
Proxies offer a variety of advantages for networks, such as additional security and bandwidth savings. You can set them up at your home if you’re experiencing a slow connection. Windows 10’s Settings app and Control Panel are where you can set proxy settings. If you are using the proxy for school or work, be sure that you enable the Automatic detection of settings is turned on and the Use setup script option is turned on in the Automatic Proxy Setup section.
Open the Internet Options window by clicking on the Control Panel icon or by typing «Internet options» into the search bar. Open the LAN settings by clicking the Advanced tab. Input the proxy provider’s information in the Address and Port fields. After that, check the box Use proxy server for your local area network, and close the Internet Options Window.
Sometimes, malware could mess with your settings for a proxy server to block you from getting online. If the error «Windows could not automatically detect this network’s proxy settings» continues then run a scan with an anti-malware program and see if that can help.
If the error continues it is possible to reset the proxy settings using the Registry. However, be careful as modifying the Registry can cause irreversible damage to your system. We recommend creating backups before proceeding with this method. To do this simply press the Win + R keys at the same time. Enter cmd. This will launch the classic Command Prompt.
